  5. What do you think about when I say PETA? Animal rights. Celebrities posing naked. Vegetarian and vegan awareness. All great things, right? Sure. Too bad they’re a bunch of reasonless rabblerousers that doesn’t care about a human life.

  8. My Geek Side

Anyone who knows me also knows that I am, among other things, part geek and have a passion for technology and software. In my continuing efforts to bring more coherence and focus to the things I am writing about, I am now publishing my technical ramblings here. Shepard Road is my technology-oriented outlet, leaving the other personal/creative works to flourish here.

I wanted to post this as there are those who have wandered by, interested in the technical discussions thinking that they may have dried up. On the contrary, my friends, this is just another tweak to my online reorganization plans. So, if you want to talk software or technology, c’mon over! Just ask my wife—a few words into a sentence about anything on the subject, it just starts to sound like Charlie Brown’s teacher to those who don’t understand, or care to understand. For all of you who can relate to her, I do this for you Winking smile.

Ok, so I have been trying to get my online game straightened out for a while now, and everything seems to be conspiring toward that end this week.  I have been hovering at various levels of the social media spectrum over the past couple of years, primarily as a casual to moderate observer and sporadic contributor with spurts of fair volumes of content.  This has also been a process of me trying to find my identity online in a social and professional sense, with these 2 contexts being the ones that cover my personal spectrum with a large amount of overlap.  This is due to the fact that I love what I do for a living causes me to not view it as work, per se, blending into my work/life fabric without solid lines of demarcation.

I have made these observations as I have been looking back on the past 9 months, during which I have been transforming the way I organize and manage my life.  This has been arguably the most positive change—and consistent trend—that I have experienced in my adult life.  As this trend continues, defining the evolution that is taking place, I have been shifting focus toward cleaning up, organizing and managing myself online.  My online world has consisted of many properties, more like vacant lots, in need of attention.  I have narrowed the number of these locations down to 3 in particular, which will more accurately reflect the areas of my life, and given how they relate to each other, there will be overlap.

This marks the beginning of testing for this iteration in building and maintaining the processes and delivery in my online context.  I have already found some defects, but those will be addressed as the process continues.

After all, it’s evolution, baby, evolution…
